Later moved to Newcastle for successful career as Captain Coach of Lakes United.

Dennis was a Canterbury Bankstown junior who played for East Hills. He played lower grades for Canterbury before being called up for National Service. Having finished Nashos he trialled for Canterbury but was told he was "too old" so he went to Newtown and was graded in First Grade. In the time he played for Newtown Canterbury could not beat Newtown if Dennis played. After leaving Newtown he successfully captained Lakes United in the Newcastle competition.
